Cilantro Lime Dressing
This Creamy Cilantro Lime Dressing is a blend of avocado, jalapeno, fresh cilantro, and lime juice. The perfect dressing to elevate any bowl or tacos.
A refreshing creamy dressing you’ll want to have on hand to help spruce up every meal. I like to prep it on Sundays along with a second sauce like my Miso Ginger Tahini Sauce and just have them ready to go for top meals with and keep things interesting.
Why You’ll Love This Creamy Dressing
- It has fresh and bold flavors to elevate any dish
- Easy to blend up for a quick to go dressing
- Perfect to meal prep for the week to help compliment meals
- Vegan, gluten-free and can be made nut-free depending on the type of plant-based yogurt used
Key Ingredients and Substitutions
- Avocado: You will need ripe avocado to make sure that it blends well. Your avocado is ready to use when it starts to slightly give when you gently squeeze it.
- Plant-Based Yogurt: I always use Forager Project yogurt as it’s a thick and creamy yogurt. You can also use any other plain unsweetened vegan yogurt that you prefer.
- Cilantro: Fresh is best. And if you prefer to use other herbs, you can replace with what you like and adjust how much you use to impart the flavor you’re looking for.
- Nutritional Yeast: Gives this dressing a more balanced savory, umami flavor.
- Garlic: Fresh cloves are needed and I recommend crushing or grating as it will help it blend better into the dressing. I find if I just add the cloves whole in a food processor it doesn’t always blend down.
- Lime Juice: Fresh is best. To help get the most juice out of it, roll the lime between your palm and a flat surface. This will release more of the juice when squeezed.
How to Make Cilantro Lime Dressing
All you need is a blender or food processor. Add all of your ingredients to the blender and blend until completely smooth.
Scrape down the sides of your food processor as needed to make sure that everything is blended evenly.
Expert Tips
- Double the dressing as needed. This can last for 4-5 bowls. But you can easily double if using more throughout the week or sharing with others at home.
- Use a lime squeezer to get the most juice out of your lime.
- You can thin out your dressing more with extra lime juice or water until consistency is to your liking.
- If your blender or food processor is weak, chop some of your ingredients into smaller chunks and place the cilantro in first to be closer to the blades. This will help everything blend better.
Frequently Asked Questions
It can last for up to 4 days in the fridge. The antioxidants from the lime juice and onion help to preserve the color and keep it fresh longer. Just make sure to store in an airtight container.
You can try this dressing with fresh basil instead. It will still give a nice tangy and fresh flavor to what you want to apply it to.
You can opt for a higher protein plant-based yogurt like soy yogurt or Greek-Style almond yogurt. You can also blend in some hemp hearts if desired to boost the protein more.
How to Serve
When I made this dressing, I originally paired it to enjoy with my Tipili Salad and Crispy Baked Tofu. However, this dressing can pair on top of tacos, nourish bowls, or any salad.

Love this! The adobo sauce is too spicy for my kids, but great for my husband and I! Will keep making this with different kinds of beans!
So glad you enjoyed this Kay! If you try with other beans you can always adjust the spice level by swapping the adobo sauce out for some more smoked paprika and some chili powder. Thank you so much for making them!
